The banking sector operates in an ever-changing regulatory environment where adherence to regulatory requirements is increasingly relevant. The Chief Compliance Officer Area plays a strategic role within the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, ensuring the control of the risk of non-compliance with regulations and the fight against financial crimes.
The Chief Compliance Officer Area has the task of achieving effective integration of the management and control processes, collaborating with the corporate functions involved and taking care of relations with Corporate Organs and Supervisory Authorities pertaining to compliance issues.
The Central Financial Anticrime Department and the Data Protection Officer (DPO) Function are part of this Area. The former carries out the duties and responsibilities of the AML and anti-corruption function. The second carries out the tasks assigned by the privacy regulations.

Goals
The Chief Compliance Officer Area goals include:
- to ensure the Group-wide regulatory compliance, including through the adoption of a graduated compliance model tailored to the most specific needs;
- to collaborate with other business functions in order to achieve the effective integration of the management and control process;
- to manage the relations with Corporate Organs and Supervisory Authorities.
Other main activities include advising Group facilities and spreading the compliance culture through internal awareness and training initiatives. The implementation of these activities is supported by a structured methodological framework and a growing digital component.
