Results and targets

Since 2009 Intesa Sanpaolo has set up medium to long-term targets, included in specific Environmental Plans.

In light of the positive experience gained up until today, a new environmental plan - the Climate Change Action Plan - has been prepared with targets set for 2022 and 2037.

In the new Plan, the Intesa Sanpaolo Group sets targets to reduce CO2 emissions connected with its activities and 2012 is taken as baseline. The 2022 targets are backed by specific actions in Italy and in several International Subsidiary Banks with, in some cases, the quantification of the cost savings and CO2 emissions avoided.

Our plans for 2019-2022

In accordance with the plans of the Climate Change Action Plan in Italy, without prejudice to the use of self-produced energy from cogeneration at the Parma site, further reduction in the purchase of energy from traditional sources is expected, extending our commitment, as far as possible, to the foreign area. We will also replace the current obsolete lighting equipment with energy-efficient LED technology. The new branches will be built with the best engineering technologies currently available on the market, featuring systems of governance and control of the plants servicing the building and proceeding with the plant modernization plan with improved efficiency.
With reference to the "equivalent annual electrical power per employee", the 2018 index is consistent with previous years (612W), well below the banking sector average of 741W.

What we said in 2018

The reduction in energy consumption is one of the primary objectives that the Intesa Sanpaolo Group has set, again, for 2017. The replacement of refrigeration units containing R22, of lighting fixtures with high-efficiency equipment, of boilers and above all the actions of management optimization of the systems already installed will continue, with particular focus on heating consumption (gas).
