Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti have signed a long-term financing agreement for €10 million, which will make available resources of at least €20 million: the goal is to support the growth of Albanian SMEs operating in sectors with a high ESG impact through financing at favourable rates.

More specifically, the agreement benefits Albanian SMEs interested in seizing opportunities in the following areas:

  • green economy
  • social entrepreneurship
  • sustainable agriculture
  • circular economy
  • ecotourism

The funds – made available under the Western Balkans Investment Framework initiative – will support at least 50 local businesses, creating new jobs and contributing to the achievement of five UN Sustainable Development Goals ("SDGs").

The initiative also favours Italian companies interested in the business opportunities that Albania and the Western Balkans area can offer, strengthening economic relations between Albania and Italy.

"I am certain that our partnership with CDP in Albania will help create further new opportunities and synergies, as part of the strong strategic relationship between Intesa Sanpaolo and the network of Italian institutions, such as CDP, SACE and SIMEST, that support the internationalisation process of Italian companies and local economic development."
