Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, together with Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione CRT, in collaboration with Techstars, has launched the first Italian startup accelerator dedicated to smart cities, the Torino Cities of the Future Accelerator.

The programme, which aims to support their growth and development, kicks off with a class of 12 European startups that provide innovative solutions for more efficient, functional cities in the areas of transport, housing, energy, infrastructure and basic services such as education and healthcare.

Three Italian companies have been selected: Family+Happy, which has devised a service for selecting certified babysitters; Strategic BIM, which offers digital and remote management of large buildings; and Gymnasio, which has developed home fitness technology.

Torino Cities of the Future Accelerator represents an offshoot of Techstars Smart Mobility, which in two years has already accelerated 23 international startups. The initiative is part of the broader partnership launched in 2019 to foster the development of the city of Turin as an international ecosystem for innovation and establish it as a successful model in Italy and Europe.
