La Notte della Taranta Festival 2019
Intesa Sanpaolo is once again sponsoring the La Notte Della Taranta Festival that, from 3 to 25 August 2019, will bring Salento to life with music, the ultimate embodiment of the local area’s keen focus on tourism.
The bank is playing an active role in the festival, with four in-branch events involving ‘pizzica’ dance performances and lessons for aficionados and the curious alike:
Thursday 27 June in Matera – 51 Piazza Vittorio Veneto branch
Thursday 4 July in Reggio Calabria– 12 Via Nicola Miraglia branch
Thursday 11 July in Bari – 101 Via Abate Gimma branch
Thursday 18 July in Caserta – 1 Piazza Generale Amico branch
As part of Taranta Solidale, the project chosen this year is “Rigeneri…AMO la natura!Estate, pizzica, mare, …e quattro oasi da salvare in Puglia, Calabria, Campania e Basilicata” (Regenerate… I love nature! Summer, pizzica, sea… and four oases to save in Puglia, Calabria, Campania and Basilicata). Set up in collaboration with Legambiente, it will involve four different oases in Southern Italy with a promotion and reclamation programme.
The aim of this initiative is to clean up and give everyone access to places that, despite being wonderful, are relatively unknown and, because of this, are often overlooked:
Torre Squillace Bay, in the municipality of Nardò in Puglia, in the centre of the protected zone in the Porto Cesareo marine protected area, that needs to become visitor-friendly with guided trails allowing walkers to uncover the history of the Tower and the surrounding nature;
Sovereto Dunes, at Isola di Capo Rizzuto, in the province of Crotone in Calabria, with natural habitats and paths requiring restoration;
Oasi dei Variconi in Castelvolturno, in the province of Caserta in Campania, a destination of choice for large numbers of birdwatchers, that was devastated by an arson attack;
The “Costa Ionica Foce Cavone” special protection zone in Pisticci, in the province of Matera in Basilicata, boasting an abundance of dunes, beaches and animals to watch, but currently lacking disabled access.
Everyone can make a contribution to the project for protecting the environment on the Intesa Sanpaolo ForFunding platform and by buying the official T-shirt of the 22nd edition of La Notte della Taranta, designed by Angelo Cruciani, creative director of Yezael.
La Notte della Taranta will be a true party held across several towns in Salento and will draw to a close on Saturday 24 August with the traditional big concert in Melpignano. As part of the Reward programme, every Thursday in July there will be a chance to win backstage tickets for the concert.
