Il colore del denaro (The colour of money)

Wednesday July 4, at 6:30 pm, at the auditorium of the skyscraper, the philosopher Maurizio Ferraris will illustrate how philosophy can help us understand both the function of money and its value.
We all use money, often without using complex theoretical superstructures.
As Ferraris – an academic at the University of Turin, vice rector and president of the Laboratory of Ontology – and Searle – one of the greatest contemporary philosophers – explain in the book Il denaro e i suoi inganni (Money and its Deceptions), recently published by Einaudi, money represents the metaphor of life in a social context where the act of exchange and its documentation are the dynamic moments that enrich the same money with meaning.
The theme will be discussed by the philosopher together with Gian Maria Gros-Pietro – President of Intesa Sanpaolo – and Piero Gastaldo – General Secretary of Compagnia di San Paolo – on the occasion of the event organized in collaboration with Museo del Risparmio (Museum of Savings).
Luca Ubaldeschi, deputy vice-director of La Stampa, will moderate the debate.

The event is free but advanced reservation is required and will be available on this website from next Thursday, 28th June.
