ISP supports the fashion system

Intesa Sanpaolo's initiative organised during September's Milan Fashion Week

According to a study conducted by the Intesa Sanpaolo Research Department, the Italian fashion system, which includes textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods, is a key sector for the economy: with more than 24 billion euro of added value generated, it accounts for 10.6% of the manufacturing sector and employs around 500 thousand employees, namely 13% of the total number of workers employed in the Italian manufacturing sector as a whole. It is not just a national excellence. Indeed, Made in Italy fashion maintains its supremacy also in Europe, both in terms of production and added value. Just under 40% of the added value generated by the European Union's fashion system can be associated with Italy, a share equal to three times that of Germany, four times that of Spain and five times that of France. The analysis continues by highlighting how the growth fundamentals of the Italian fashion system remain solid even in a more complex scenario. In the first seven months of 2019, the turnover of the fashion system increased at current prices of 3% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, due to it being driven by the leather goods supply chain (+8.1% year-on-year). Signs of a steady performance then came from clothing sales (+0.8%), while the most upstream textile producers declined slightly (-1%). Once again the Italian companies of the fashion system achieved excellent performance in foreign markets, where they recorded an increase in exports by 7.9%, with peaks of +10.8% in the leather goods industry and a 9.9% boost in the clothing sector.

The 10 companies that took to the runway thanks to Intesa Sanpaolo include: FRANCO FERRARO, HANITA PUSH, MINAVARA, MARTINO MIDALI, GAZEL, MANTU’, OBLIQUE CREATIONS, SOLOBLU, STEFANO DE LELLIS.
