Chairman Gian Maria Gros-Pietro receives “Keys to the City” of Tirana
Tirana's mayor, Erion Veliaj, bestowed on Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, Intesa Sanpaolo's Chairman, “the Keys to the City” during a visit to Albania as a symbol of mutual cultural and economic ties.
Commenting on the honour received, Professor Gros-Pietro stated, "I would like to express my gratitude for the honour bestowed on me. Having the keys to a city means carrying it in one's heart, becoming a worthy citizen of it. I hope I am up to the task. Albania is a rapidly expanding country that is moving quickly to plan infrastructure investments. In difficult times such as the present, the collaboration and friendship between peoples are even more appreciated. I will therefore keep these keys with extreme care as a symbol of your extraordinary hospitality."
During his visit to the Albanian capital, which was an opportunity to meet with the senior executives of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania – part of the International Subsidiary Banks Division of Intesa Sanpaolo – and local banking and governmental institutions, Chairman Gros-Pietro also gave a talk at the "Our Lady of Good Counsel" University of Tirana on the issues of sustainable growth, the importance of education and training in economic and social development, innovation and the value of human capital.
