Intesa Sanpaolo and the Council of the National Order of Agronomists and Forestry Experts (CONAF) have signed an agreement to facilitate access to credit for companies in the agricultural and forestry sector.

The objectives of the agreement include contributing to the evolution of the business models of agricultural enterprises in terms of:

  • digital and ecological transition
  • circular economy
  • innovation
  • internationalisation
  • support for youth entrepreneurship

in coherence with the NRRP initiatives.

Intesa Sanpaolo also serves operators in the sector through its Agribusiness Department, consisting of 228 operating points and 1,000 professionals throughout the country, and Supply Chain Programme, which facilitates access to credit by leveraging inclusion in the production chain: in the agri-food sector it has served 168 downstream companies, with a potential of 6,500 suppliers, a total turnover of over €22 billion and over 22,000 employees of downstream firms.

The agri-food industry is one of the key sectors of the Italian economy: in 2021, it generated an added value of about €64 billion, 4% of the Italian total, and employed more than 1,400,000 people, or 5.5% of total employment in Italy.
