Italy-Spain relations: Gros-Pietro receives the 2023 Tiepolo Award
Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, Chairman of Intesa Sanpaolo and member of the Board of the Italian Banking Association (ABI), has been awarded the 2023 Tiepolo Award, which since 1996 has been given to recognise the careers of successful Spanish and Italian figures in business and finance and their contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.
The award is bestowed by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Spain (CCIS) and the Confederación Española de las Organizaciones Empresariales (CEOE), under the auspices of the Italian Embassy in Spain.
"I hope that the friendship between Spain and Italy can continue to grow and help catalyse the process of building a less unequal and more environmentally aware society, with the invaluable help of the banking and financial system".
Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, Chairman of Intesa Sanpaolo
More specifically, the award recognises:
- the recipients' careers
- their contributions to strengthening the financial sector in Italy and Spain
- their support for the growth and competitiveness of the companies that make up the two countries' business communities
In 2023 Intesa Sanpaolo is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its establishment in Spain – thanks to Banca Commerciale Italiana (Comit) – a country that represents one of the most important markets for the international network of the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division.
The award ceremony for the Tiepolo Award was held at the Italian Embassy in Madrid and was attended by numerous institutional representatives and exponents of business and finance from both countries.
Similar recognition was awarded to Alejandra Kindelán, President of Asociación Española de Banca (AEB).
