Circular economy: €11 million for Ecoross for a new biomethane plant
Intesa Sanpaolo is providing €11 million to the Calabria-based SME Ecoross to build an OFMSW (organic fraction of municipal solid waste) plant for biomethane production.
Thanks to this transaction, Ecoross will be able to turn organic waste into energy, mitigating the environmental impact by producing an advanced biofuel generated from locally sourced waste and minimising the waste to be sent to landfills.
The transaction is backed by a SACE green guarantee and the financing draws on the €8 billion that Intesa Sanpaolo has set aside for the development of the circular economy.
Work on the plant in the municipality of Corigliano-Rossano (CS) began in 2021 and will be completed by the first half of 2024, with commissioning to follow.
Ecoross is an SME active in waste management, asbestos abatement, interior sanitation, chemical toilet rental and street cleaning.
