Agreement with MASAF and CDP to support Italian agriculture
Intesa Sanpaolo is making €20 billion available to revitalise Italian agriculture and agribusiness. The agreement signed by the bank with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) will finance projects that increase the relevance and competitiveness of the sector in Italy and abroad, drawing on the €410 billion in financing to support NRRP initiatives.
In order to improve the sustainability of agricultural activities, one area of investments under the agreement will focus on energy saving, circular economy and animal welfare.
The future of the sector is the focus of various efforts. The expansion of Italian companies in foreign markets will be supported through digitalisation and e-commerce. Young people who start a business or have already developed one will receive specific support, in addition to sector-wide initiatives to facilitate access to NRRP and National Complementary Investment Plan (PNC) funds.
Intesa Sanpaolo's commitment to support agriculture
From 2020 to 2023, Intesa Sanpaolo disbursed €15 billion for the sector.
The agreement with Masaf and CDP continues this commitment to support Italian agriculture and its development. This action is being carried out through two dedicated structures:
- The Agribusiness Department, part of the Banca dei Territori Division, assists more than 84,000 customers throughout Italy thanks to a network of about 250 operating points, 88 branches and more than 1,000 professionals.
- The IMI CIB Division is active on the financial side and offers specialised solutions to support strategic initiatives.
