At the 18th Transatlantic Award Gala Dinner, Stefano Lucchini, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy and Chief Institutional Affairs and External Communication Officer at Intesa Sanpaolo, emphasized the enduring importance of transatlantic relations, describing them as “a cornerstone of this historical moment.”

Lucchini underlined the United States’ role as “the leading non-European investor in our country, with foreign direct investment (FDI) stock valued at $29 billion in 2023, marking a 13% increase compared to 2022. This growth reflects the presence of 2,750 US-affiliated companies operating in Italy, which together employ an impressive 400,000 workers.”

He also highlighted the rapid growth of Italian investments in the United States, “driven by the natural internationalization of our companies.” In 2023, Italian FDI stock in the United States reached “$42.8 billion, reflecting a remarkable increase of over 500% in the last 20 years.”

AmCham Italy – the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy – remains, as Lucchini noted, “an organization fully committed to fostering business and mutual interests between the United States and Italy.” He further emphasized that it is “a key ally of the US Diplomatic Mission in Italy.” This strong collaboration, he added, enables AmCham to represent the perspective of Italy’s most significant foreign investor while helping shape effective economic policies.
