Intesa Sanpaolo: The Assets Of Two Banks From The Veneto Region Combined Into A New Regional Governance Centre Created To Ensure The Best Possible Support For The Local Economy

 

·         Stefano Barrese appointed interim Regional Manager of the new structure, which has been subdivided into two organisational units;

 

·         The two units, which include Banca Popolare di Vicenza and Veneto Banca, entrusted to Gabriele Piccini.

 

Turin/Milan, 26 June 2017 – Intesa Sanpaolo has today established, within the Banca dei Territori Division, a new regional governance centre, to oversee the businesses composed of the assets of Banca Popolare di Vicenza and Veneto Banca. 

 

The purpose behind establishing a new dedicated structure is to ensure continuing operations for the assets acquired from the two banks and to integrate them immediately into the Intesa Sanpaolo Group.  

 

Stefano Barrese, head of the Banca dei Territori Division, has been appointed interim head of the new department, which contains two organisational units, to oversee the central and regional structures of the two integrated banks, entitled “former Banca Popolare di Vicenza” and “former Veneto Banca”. Responsibility for these two units has been entrusted to Gabriele Piccini, an experienced manager who has held a number of key roles at Unicredit, including Country Manager for Italy. He subsequently served as Deputy General Manager and Commercial Director at the Banca Popolare di Vicenza Group, and, most recently, Chief Executive Officer at Banca Nuova.

 

Through the creation of this new structure, which is operational as of now and has been entrusted to managers with vast experience in retail and North-East Italy, the Intesa Sanpaolo Group will ensure that the families and SMEs who are customers of the integrated banks may benefit from the support of one of the foremost banking groups in Europe, in order to contribute to rebuilding trust and relaunching the economic development of the area.
