THE EXHIBITION “FROM TIEPOLO TO CANALETTO AND GUARDI”

IN THE PUSHKIN STATE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

 

23 July 2018, Moscow - The Intesa Sanpaolo Group and Banca Intesa sponsor the exhibition "From Tiepolo to Canaletto and Guardi" presented today in Moscow, at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. It will be open from 24 July to 14 October 2018.

The exhibition displays works by great artists of the Venetian school of the XVIII century, including nine masterpieces from the collection of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group from the Gallerie d’Italia - the Palazzo Leoni Montanari, the Museum center of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group in Vicenza. The exhibition, held under the auspices of the Italian Embassy in Moscow, will also feature works from the collections of the Museum of Palazzo Chiericati in Vicenza and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

"The development of the cooperation with the Pushkin Museum further enriches the history of the presence of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group in the Russian Federation, contributing to the integration of economy and art, business and culture. I am convinced that the resulting synergy provides a great opportunity to meet the cultural heritage and masterpieces of the two countries, bringing them together. Today in Moscow we make available masterpieces from our Gallerie d’Italia in Vicenza, also hoping to encourage visitors of the exhibition to make a trip to Italy and, in particular, to visit our three museums which are located in Milan, Naples and Vicenza. Part of our art collection is exhibited there in historic buildings that were once used for banking activities, but now have been completely renovated", comments Antonio Fallico, President of Banca Intesa.

The exhibition opens a few days after the conclusion of a three year agreement on cooperation in art and culture between Intesa Sanpaolo and the State Hermitage Museum from St. Petersburg. It provides the sponsorship of the exhibition of Piero della Francesca (the opening is scheduled for December 2018) and joint cultural activities, both within the framework of the scientific cooperation and the temporary transfer of works of art from the Hermitage collection to organize exhibitions that will be held in the Gallerie d’Italia and in the skyscraper of the Bank Intesa Sanpaolo in Turin.

The Gallerie d’Italia Museum located in the city of Vicenza also hosts a unique collection of Russian icons including more than 400 works created from the beginning of the XIII century to the present times. All items are carefully stored and partially exhibited. The collection represents various Russian schools of icon painting. The collection is one of the treasures of the historical and artistic heritage of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group and in fact is one of the richest collections of Russian icons in the West.

The Intesa Sanpaolo Group has been present in Russia for more than 40 years and plays an important role not only in the economic and financial activities related to trade turnover between the two countries, but also takes an active part in an extensive exchange of scientific and cultural programs. Banca Intesa (100% ownership of Intesa Sanpaolo Group) whose assets amounted to 55.1 billion rubles and the capital is 12.4 billion rubles (according to IFRS) as of 31.12.2017, is present in 22 regions of the Russian Federation, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok and provides a full range of banking services to individuals and corporate clients.
