World Environmental Day: the Intesa Sanpaolo Group’s adhesion
The World Environment Day, promoted by the UN since 1972, this year will take place in Colombia. At the heart of the current edition is the theme of biodiversity, a call to action to combat the degradation of nature caused by man, rethinking the way our economic systems have evolved and the impact they have on the environment. In fact, one million plant and animal species are at risk of extinction, largely due to human activities.
Intesa Sanpaolo continues to raise awareness of these environmental issues, promoting the Day for the twelfth year in a row.
This will be a special edition, because of the pandemic the initiatives will be limited, but the commitment to spread to colleagues the principles of finding time for nature will be maintained. Customers are also made aware of this through a dedicated news on the Intesa Sanpaolo website and a message in ATMs. The International Subsidiary Banks also contribute to spreading the initiative on their internal and external communication channels, bringing the Group's commitment to an international scale. Intesa Sanpaolo is aware of the great impact that its environmental activity can have: for this reason, it has made available, under the European Green Deal, 50 billion for the green economy in Italy, a further step to safeguard nature. Each of us can also make small gestures to help safeguard biodiversity and preserve nature for global well-being, through conscious consumer choices, as the Manifesto of the Day states.
