Adhesion to the Lombardy Region protocol for sustainable development

Intesa Sanpaolo is the first Italian banking operator to adhere to the Lombardy Region protocol for sustainable development.

Intesa Sanpaolo will collaborate with the Region in the realization of the Lombardy Regional Development Program (2018-2023), which has placed sustainability among the five priorities of regional government action. The Bank, in line with its commitment for years, confirms its leadership in ESG issues also in light of their centrality in the 2022-2025 Business Plan.

The joint commitment of Intesa Sanpaolo and the Lombardy Region focuses in particular on sustainable transition, one of the pillars of Motor Italia, the broadest strategic program of interventions for financing the real economy launched by the Bank a year ago to support SMEs. The transformation of companies with a view to environmental, social and governance (ESG) sustainability increases their value and competitiveness. At the same time, the adoption of “circular” business models is a fundamental factor for the growth of the national economy and the local productive fabric.

In the coming months, the Lombardy Region will organize the third edition of the Regional Forum for Sustainable Development which will also see the active participation of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group.
