The merger strengthens the bank’s position in the local market and is part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group’s growth and investment strategy in Central and Eastern Europe.

The new Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania, with assets of around €3.1 billion and over 1,100 employees, will now serve over 170,000 clients.

“The merger in Romania is an important step in strengthening our presence in Central and Eastern Europe. Through the new bank, the experience, innovation, and values of our Group will help drive the country’s sustainable growth"

Paola Papanicolaou, Head of Intesa Sanpaolo’s International Banks Division
