Intesa Sanpaolo and Enel jointly finalized acquisition of fintech Mooney

Intesa Sanpaolo and Enel jointly finalized the acquisition of Mooney announced last December: more in detail Intesa Sanpaolo, through Banca 5, and Enel, through Enel X, finalized the acquisition, respectively, of 20% and 50% of Mooney Group share capital from Schumann Investments S.A. – company controlled by the international private equity fund CVC Capital Partners Fund VI – coming to hold 50% each.

The operation on Mooney, fintech company that provides proximity banking and payments services, enhances the digital proposition of Intesa Sanpaolo for its retail customers, ensuring them easy, fast and secure access to a wide range of payment services. It also enables the Bank to acquire new customers and expand the digital service model internationally.

Mooney, with its approximately 45,000 points of sales, is an Italian operator with an extensive proximity network that has approximately 20 million customers and every year processes approximately 20% of all electricity bills (equal to about 18 million bills) issued by the Enel Group. Furthermore, through its stake in MyCicero, Mooney manages a digital platform that provides over 2 million customers with mobility services (parking and intermodal transport).
