Intesa Sanpaolo has concluded two loans totalling €70 million to Grimaldi Euromed for the purchase of the new, high-tech and eco-friendly vessels Eco Mediterranea and Eco Adriatica, respectively the tenth and eleventh of the Grimaldi Green 5th Generation (GG5G) class.

The latest-generation engines of the Eco Mediterranea and the Eco Adriatica cut CO2 emissions by half and reduce sulphur and particulate emissions, while the lithium batteries on board, thanks to their capacity to be recharged during navigation, will ensure the achievement of the zero emissions in port objective.

The two credit lines are characterised by a pricing mechanism linked to the achievement of specific ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) targets, including:

  • a significant reduction in pollutant emissions
  • an expansion of the use and installation of photovoltaic systems on individual ships.

The transaction confirms Intesa Sanpaolo's support for the Grimaldi Group's energy transition and in support of NRRP-related investments.
