Agreement with IBM to adopt innovative technological infrastructure

Intesa Sanpaolo and IBM have signed an agreement that will allow the Group to adopt innovative technological infrastructure that wil:

• enable rapid, open, flexible and secure digitalisation
• contribute to a significant reduction in energy consumption and the related environmental impact

taking full advantage of the opportunities offered in hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence.

In particular, the modernisation of the bank's technological environment with the IBM z16 – designed with efficiency in mind to achieve higher performance with lower energy consumption – will enable Intesa Sanpaolo to reduce the energy consumption of this component of its infrastructure by around 20%.

The partnership between Intesa Sanpaolo and IBM also lays the groundwork for further developments, especially for protecting sensitive data and infrastructure against possible cyber-attacks in a post-quantum future.

Thanks to the technological investments envisaged in the 2022-2025 Business Plan, Intesa Sanpaolo aims to become a leader in Europe in terms of operational efficiency and to achieve a world-class position in social impact with a strong focus on climate.
