Torino Jazz Festival 2019

From 26 April to 4 May, the new iteration of the Torino Jazz Festival, the international jazz fair sponsored by Intesa Sanpaolo since the event’s founding, will be held.

For its second year under the artistic direction of musicians Giorgio Li Calzi and Diego Borotti, the Festival will welcome a host of big artists to the Main Stage of the Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR). These include the likes of Enrico Rava, a musician with a deep connection to Turin, who will receive a well deserved tribute from the Festival for his 80th birthday, the trumpeter Randy Brecker, a key figure in the enduring jazz-rock and fusion era during the 1970s, and Joshua Redman, an eminent figure in today’s American jazz.
The event will also unfold in other venues in the city: from the Piccolo Regio theatre and the Conservatory, to the markets, the city centre’s streets and over 20 jazz clubs found across the city.
For the 2019 iteration, the main event schedule will be supported by another programme with additional musical events that can be enjoyed by those who, facing hardship, cannot get to concert venues. These events will take place in hospitals and clinics, facilities assisting those with mental or physical disabilities, care homes, detention centres, centres for adults and families facing hardship.
What is more, on Friday 3 May at 6pm, the skyscraper’s Auditorium will play host to the concert from the Turin trio Accordi e Disaccordi, that will also feature performances by violinist Florin Nicolescu and actor Giorgio Tirabassi.
Tickets can be bought for the event (cost: 5 euro) from the event webpage and the Urban Lab ticket office at 8/F Piazza Palazzo di Città until 12 noon on Friday 3 May. Any tickets for remaining seats will be given out for free from 5pm on 3 May at the skyscraper.
