New credit for €1 billion to the Northern Adriatic port system
The agreement signed between Intesa Sanpaolo and the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority (AdSP) aims to strengthen and relaunch businesses in the Veneto coastal area and inland whose activities are linked to port traffic.
Among the measures envisaged by the agreement is the allocation of a €1 billion credit facility under the Motore Italia programme, promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo to enable SMEs to overcome the crisis phase caused by the pandemic and reactivate development and growth projects in line with the objectives of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza – PNRR).
The main objectives envisaged by the collaboration:
- drive for sustainable 4.0 investments and support for growth through extraordinary finance and digitisation
- promotion of productive attractiveness and reshoring
- support for foreign investments to generate new opportunities for economic and social development of the territory.
According to a research carried out by SRM – Studi e Ricerche per il Mezzogiorno (Studies and Research for Southern Italy), the maritime sector in Veneto is of strategic importance: it numbers 10,000 companies in the freight logistics sector that employ 82,800,000 people, activating €3 billion of added value. In 2020, the region’s industries generated more than €22 billion in seaborne imports and exports.
