Privredna Banka Zagreb (PBZ), the Intesa Sanpaolo Group's bank in Croatia, has obtained €169 million from the EIB that will enable it to expand financing for businesses in the country, particularly SMEs and mid-caps.

In greater detail, the operation involves:

  • an EIB guarantee line of up to €100 million for the benefit of large companies and mid-caps
  • the extension of an EIF guarantee of up to €69 million for smaller companies.

Part of the funding will be used to promote climate actions and will include innovative instruments, such as Minibonds, used for the first time in Croatia.

The operation aims to support Croatian companies in their green transition, meet their liquidity needs and improve their competitiveness.

PBZ, part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group's International Banks Division, is the second-largest bank in Croatia by assets, with a market share of approximately 20% in various operating segments.
