General Antonio De Vita to lead the new “Chief Security Officer” Area
Intesa Sanpaolo has created the new “Chief Security Officer” Governance Area, reporting directly to CEO Carlo Messina and entrusted to General Antonio De Vita, that will oversee:
- physical security
- IT security (cybersecurity)
- business continuity.

More in detail, the new Area will ensure:
- a single point of control for security models and solutions
- governance of the budget
- identification of priorities
- strengthening alignment with the best international security standards and models.
Antonio De Vita’s most recent position was as Lieutenant General, responsible for overseeing the Carabinieri forces in Southern Italy.
Previously, he served as Brigadier General and Division General, with responsibility for the regional commands in Lombardy and Lazio, ensuring operational coordination between provincial commands and managing personnel, logistics, and administration. As Colonel and Brigadier General, he commanded the provincial Carabinieri units in Turin, Naples, and Rome, overseeing public order and security.
De Vita also played a key role during the COVID-19 emergency in Lombardy, and earlier, he led security efforts for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
He held significant General Staff positions as Division General, including Deputy Chief of Staff, responsible for legislative, administrative, and budget management for the Carabinieri. He also led the 1st Division of the General Command, overseeing personnel, training, and organizational functions. Earlier, as Colonel in the General Staff, he served as Head of Personnel for Non-Commissioned Officers, and Chief of the Chief of Staff’s office.
In his earlier ranks, from Captain to Lieutenant Colonel, he held territorial command positions in Sardinia and Piedmont, with a focus on investigative roles, including Commander of the Special Operations Group (ROS) in Sardinia and Commander of the Investigative Unit in Naples.
