Intesa Sanpaolo, as Sustainability Coordinator, has signed a new €55 million loan with a pool of banks to Acque Bresciane, sole manager of Brescia's water service, which has been classified as a Benefit Company since 2022, with total public capital.

It is a “Sustainability Linked Loan”, with a pricing mechanism linked to ESG objectives, including the reduction of pollutant emissions and the reduction of water losses.

Acque Bresciane, among its projects, in accordance with the 2030 Agenda, plans to:

  • further improve the quality of tap water, encouraging plastic-free behaviour
  • implement the re-use of purified water and the reduction of sludge, thanks to innovative bio-drying techniques, are in the forefront.

The new line is in addition to the €202 million loan granted in October 2021.

BNL BNP Paribas, Banco BPM and BPER Corporate & Investment Banking also took part in the transaction.
