XIII Finance and Third Sector Observatory, with AICCON
Intesa Sanpaolo and AICCON Research Center present the 13th edition of the Finance and Third Sector Observatory: through a sample survey of 250 entities, the work analyses crucial issues for social entrepreneurship such as the relationship with banks, social impact finance, as well as financial needs and future prospects.
The main findings of the new Observatory:
- 86% of respondents are satisfied with the relationship between social enterprises and banks. Key factors include dedicated and trained staff (34%) and specialised products (19%)
- 39% of cooperatives and social enterprises see the bank as an advisor and network for their business, in addition to credit
- impact assessment is central to refocusing and strengthening activities (45%) and gathering more resources (29.5%)
- at the centre of future strategies: strengthening a territorial ecosystem between banks, social enterprises and public administration; training; measuring social impact and reviewing organisational models.
Intesa Sanpaolo, through its Impact Department, which employs 600 people throughout the country, is committed to providing non-profit organisations with increasingly innovative relationship and collaboration tools.
"Our priority is to ensure that their projects grow, develop and improve, benefiting the region. We have estimated that each euro financed to the Third Sector generates twice the value in social benefits, so we want to continue to support it by facilitating access to credit and correlating it to the impact generated to make its work even more visible"
Andrea Lecce, Head of Intesa Sanpaolo’s Impact Department
The Observatory is also flanked by the Intesa Sanpaolo Outlook on Social Enterprise, an analysis to survey sentiment, health and future development prospects on a sample of 101 social cooperative companies.
The analysis found that banks can also be a point of reference for the challenges faced by the social enterprises interviewed: the direct involvement of banks is considered consistent with their mission and therefore legitimate by 4 out of 10 enterprises interviewed and, for 1 in 2, it is desirable or could be helpful.
The analysis is conducted by Ipsos Italia and AICCON, in cooperation with and under the patronage of Confcooperative-Federsolidarietà, Legacoopsociali and CGM.
AICCON - Research Center is promoted by the University of Bologna, the Alliance of Italian Cooperative Companies and numerous public and private organisations operating in the field of Social Economy.
