Intesa Sanpaolo endorses the ICC Principles for Sustainable Trade Finance
14 November 2025
Intesa Sanpaolo has endorsed the Principles for Sustainable Trade Finance developed by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) together with a group of global banks, major corporations and institutions.
These Principles form the world’s first operational framework to classify sustainable trade finance. The criteria were defined and agreed upon in working groups in which Intesa Sanpaolo actively participated.
The ICC Principles are structured into four categories:
- Green Trade Finance (already released)
- Sustainability-Linked Trade Finance
- Sustainability-Linked Supply Chain Finance
- Social Trade Finance (to be released soon).
By endorsing the Principles, Intesa Sanpaolo confirms its leadership in sustainable finance and responds in a structured way to the growing ESG demand from corporate clients. It also places the Bank among the first adopters of a market standard destined to become a global benchmark.
