Intesa Sanpaolo as financial advisor in SGI’s €775m refinancing

Intesa Sanpaolo, through its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, assisted Società Gasdotti Italia (SGI) as financial advisor in the €775 million refinancing designed to support the company’s growth plan and strengthen its financial position.

The refinancing will replace existing bank lines and finance new investment programmes, including key initiatives such as:

  • the refurbishment of some pipelines to increase safety and operational efficiency
  • the extension of the SGI transport network to facilitate the connection of new biomethane plants
  • the digital transformation of corporate infrastructures and assets.

Società Gasdotti Italia (SGI) is the leading independent operator in the gas transmission in Italy, with a network that stretches some 1,800 km, mainly in central and southern Italy.

The IMI CIB Division was also part of the pool of institutions providing the financing, which consisted of 12 international banks and 2 institutional investors.

With this transaction, Intesa Sanpaolo reaffirms its commitment to supporting strategic business investments for sustainable growth and the energy transition.
