A new framework agreement between SACE and ALEXBANK - part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group - aims to create new connections and opportunities in Egypt, providing loan guarantees of €200 million. The initiative will help Italian companies diversify their target export markets and strengthen their position in the African continent.

The initiative aligns with Italy’s “Mattei Plan”, which prioritizes strategic partnerships across Africa.

The Framework Agreement is part of SACE’s Push Strategy Program, already responsible for over 3,200 matchmaking meetings in 2024 to integrate Italian companies into global supply chains.

ALEXBANK CEO Paolo Vivona outlined the strategic importance of the Framework Agreement:

  • “The SACE framework agreement with ALEXBANK marks a transformative moment in the economic relations between Egypt and Italy.”
  • “As Egypt's economy continues to diversify and modernize, access to high-quality Italian technology, machinery, and expertise becomes increasingly strategic.”
  • “ALEXBANK is not simply facilitating transactions but building lasting industrial partnerships that will generate sustainable growth for Egypt and Italy.”

The Framework Agreement allows SACE to expand its reach – providing guarantees not only to large foreign corporates which previously had access to the instrument, but also to smaller enterprises – with the goal of creating even more export opportunities for Italian companies and fostering new connections in strategic markets such as Egypt.

The Framework Agreement was signed by Ghada Gawish - Head of Multinational Department at ALEXBANK, and Vincenzo Pagano - General Manager Cairo Office at SACE, in the presence of Antonio Tajani - Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
