Through its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, Intesa Sanpaolo participated, alongside a pool of banks, in two sustainability-linked loans totalling €800 million for Marcegaglia Steel S.p.A., the industrial holding company of the Group led by Antonio and Emma Marcegaglia.

Linked to specific ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) targets, the credit facilities are intended to support the industrial project in Fos-sur-Mer, where Marcegaglia is implementing the Group’s largest-ever industrial investment, worth over €1 billion.

The project will also be one of the first electrified steel production sites in Europe, helping to promote a more efficient and sustainable steel supply chain, in line with the sector’s decarbonisation targets.

As part of the transaction, IMI CIB, together with other participating banks, acted as Global and ECAs Coordinator, Bookrunner, Initial Mandated Lead Arranger, Sustainability Coordinator, Hedging Coordinator and Agent.

Through this transaction, Intesa Sanpaolo reaffirms its role as a strategic partner for companies pursuing growth and sustainable transformation projects, supporting them with financing solutions that promote high-value industrial investments while contributing to the competitiveness of Europe’s manufacturing sector.
