Intesa Sanpaolo provides €10m credit line to IGD for climate resilience

Intesa Sanpaolo has provided IGD – Immobiliare Grande Distribuzione S.p.A. with an unsecured credit line of up to €10 million with a five-year maturity to finance investments aimed at strengthening climate adaptation and resilience across the company’s retail real estate assets.
The facility, structured by Intesa Sanpaolo’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, supports projects designed to increase buildings’ capacity to withstand extreme weather events and other climate-related risks.
Financing structure supporting climate adaptation in retail real estate
The transaction marks the first financing by Intesa Sanpaolo specifically dedicated to supporting Adaptation and Resilience (A&R) investments related to climate change.
The initiative is aligned with the priorities of Intesa Sanpaolo’s 2026-2029 Business Plan, which foresees increasing support for corporate clients in sustainable transition pathways and in the management of climate-related risks.
The credit line was arranged by the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division led by Mauro Micillo and will support projects aimed at ensuring operational continuity and long-term functionality of IGD’s retail real estate assets.
Types of investments supported by the credit line
The financing will support a range of initiatives designed to enhance the resilience of retail real estate infrastructure and improve the sustainability performance of buildings.
Eligible investments include:
- building modernisation and improved thermal comfort
- digitalisation of real estate assets and smart infrastructure
- energy efficiency upgrades
- sustainable water management solutions, including water reuse and rainwater collection
- climate risk mapping and reinforcement of physical asset protection
The initiative reflects Intesa Sanpaolo’s commitment to promoting financial solutions that enable companies to act proactively and integrate climate risk management into long-term sustainable development strategies.
