Intesa Sanpaolo is strengthening its positioning in Europe through the growth of its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division (IMI CIB) and the strategic role of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg, the Group’s international hub that has been operating for 50 years in the financial heart of continental Europe.
In 2025, excluding Italy, the Division participated in financing transactions worth more than €170 billion and bond issuances totalling approximately €60 billion, confirming its increasingly significant role across European markets.
The Division’s most recent and significant transactions across Europe were highlighted in Luxembourg on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Group’s presence in the Grand Duchy.
Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg: a strategic platform for international growth
Part of the IMI CIB Division’s International Network, which supports corporate clients across 23 countries, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg is today one of the Group’s main European hubs and serves as an operational platform for the development of the Division’s international activities.
As the first Italian bank of systemic importance in the Grand Duchy and one of the six Other Systemically Important Institutions identified by the Luxembourg supervisory authority, the bank supports corporate clients, financial institutions and public entities through specialist expertise in Corporate Banking, Structured Finance & Securitization, Capital Markets, Sustainable Finance, and Treasury Management & Transaction Banking.
“The expertise and relationships of the IMI CIB Division's International Network, in particular those of Intesa Sanpaolo Luxembourg, whose 50th anniversary we are celebrating today, allow us to act as key players in several international contexts, starting with Europe. We expect to grow further in the area, thanks in part to the impetus provided by the investments initiated by the EU in key sectors such as the climate transition, digital infrastructure, aerospace and defence, the Blue Economy and health”

The 50th anniversary of Intesa Sanpaolo Luxembourg
Founded in 1976, Intesa Sanpaolo Luxembourg today employs 170 people and serves as the centre of the Group’s activities in the country. Its headquarters, Intesa Sanpaolo House, a new eight-storey building in the Cloche d’Or business district, also hosts the activities of Intesa Sanpaolo Wealth Management and Eurizon Capital SGR – Luxembourg Branch.
To mark the 50th anniversary of Intesa Sanpaolo’s presence in Luxembourg, the Group celebrated the milestone with an institutional event dedicated to authorities and the economic and financial community of the Grand Duchy.
The celebrations also included the exhibition of three works by Jannis Kounellis from the Intesa Sanpaolo collection — acquired in 1976, the same year the Bank established its presence in Luxembourg — as a testament to the link between international growth and the enhancement of the Group’s artistic heritage.
