Intesa Sanpaolo’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division has participated, alongside a pool of financial institutions, in a €319 million green financing in support of Whysol Renewables Group, a platform active in the renewable energy and energy transition sector.

The financing will enable Whysol ION Holding to support a major growth plan in Southern Italy, targeting a total capacity of approximately 328 MW through the development of:

  • two battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • four agrivoltaic plants in Puglia, Sardinia and Campania

The transaction represents one of the most innovative deals in the Italian energy landscape, thanks to the unique combination of agrivoltaic infrastructure and next-generation energy storage systems.

Within the financing, the IMI CIB Division acted as original lender, structuring mandated lead arranger, global coordinator, hedging bank, green loan coordinator and bookrunner, as well as agent bank, issuing bank and depository bank.

Intesa Sanpaolo thus confirms its commitment to supporting highly innovative projects, contributing to the development of sustainable energy infrastructure and the adoption of advanced energy production and management models.

The Bank continues to support the energy transition by accompanying businesses and local communities on responsible growth paths, with the aim of generating long-term value for the economy, the environment and local communities.
