Circular Economy: € 20 million loan for Novamont

Intesa Sanpaolo has signed a € 20 million loan agreement with Novamont that will make it possible to carry out two innovative interventions in the circular economy:

  • in Terni the first plant in the world will be completed for the generation from renewable sources of a new monomer deriving from sugars for the production of biodegradable and compostable biomaterials of high performance;
  • in Bottrighe (RO) a biomethane plant from fermentation residues will be built, for the production of chemical intermediates from renewable sources which will be the most efficient in Europe for energy characteristics and environmental aspects.

The loan to Novamont falls within the € 6 billion circular ceiling envisaged by Intesa Sanpaolo's 2018-2021 Business Plan, thanks to which numerous initiatives in Italy and abroad have been financed to date for a total of € 1.5 billion .
