INTESA SANPAOLO: 50 MILLION EURO FOR ECONOMIC RECOVERY IN THE AREAS AFFECTED BY LAST MAY’S EARTHQUAKE

• Intesa Sanpaolo and its subsidiaries Leasint, Centroleasing and Mediocredito Italiano will disburse loans to SMEs, mid-caps and local authorities

• Agreement with the EIB for projects aimed at securing and rebuilding public and private structures

Milan, 20 September 2012 – Intesa Sanpaolo is making available 50 million euro for the promotion of projects aimed at securing or rebuilding public assets or structures – including schools and hospitals – located in Emilia Romagna or the neighbouring provinces of Lombardy and Veneto that were damaged in last May’s earthquake. The funds are the result of an agreement recently signed with the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The loans, with a maximum term of 15 years, will be disbursed through Intesa Sanpaolo and its subsidiaries Leasint, Centro Leasing and Mediocredito Italiano to small and medium enterprises, enterprises that qualify as mid-caps and local authorities, and represent the first tranche of a line of credit of 200 million euro approved by the EIB to support reconstruction in the areas affected by the earthquake in the spring.

“We are proud to have made a significant financial contribution available to enterprises and local authorities present in the areas affected by last May’s earthquake thanks to the agreement reached with the European Investment Bank,” commented Enrico Cucchiani, Managing Director and CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo. “Intesa Sanpaolo’s commitment will primarily be addressed towards projects devoted to rebuilding the social and economic fabric of those areas. Starting with those very common assets with which a community identifies, such as schools, hospitals and public buildings generally.”
