INTESA SANPAOLO: INCLUDED IN BLOOMBERG GENDER-EQUALITY INDEX FOR SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Turin/Milan, 31 January 2023 – For the sixth consecutive year Intesa Sanpaolo has been included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) 2023, a thematic index on gender equality launched by Bloomberg in 2018, with a score of over 87 out of 100. The analysis examined over 11,500 companies listed on major world stock exchanges considered and led to the inclusion of 484 companies in the index.
The index is based on quantitative criteria, such as the composition of the workforce and the gender distribution in positions of responsibility, as well as qualitative criteria, such as support of a better work-life balance, the presence of policies to foster a gender-equal working environment, and the existence of financial products specifically aimed at women.
The ranking is the result of Intesa Sanpaolo's ESG commitment to diversity and inclusion, which aims to foster a culture of inclusion, encourage respect, meritocracy and the value of diversity for all the Group's people. It comes in addition to numerous initiatives to support women, families and female entrepreneurs. The Bank has also adhered to the Women's Empowerment Principles – WEPs promoted by the UN, signed the Italian Banking Association Charter "Women in Banking" and has a longstanding partnership with the Marisa Bellisario Foundation, Ortygia Foundation and the associations Valore D and Parks - Liberi e uguali.
In 2022 Intesa Sanpaolo became the first major Italian banking group to obtain the gender equality certification envisaged in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), while also becoming one of the first in Europe to adhere to the Gender Equality European & International Standard (GEEIS-Diversity), the international certification by the Arborus association, both issued by Bureau Veritas. Thanks to its commitment, it is recognised as the number-one bank in Europe, number-two in the world and the only Italian among the 100 most inclusive and diversity-conscious workplaces in the Refinitiv Global Diversity and Inclusion Index 2022.
