INTESA SANPAOLO: FRANCESCA NIEDDU APPOINTED CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER, MAURO SENATI APPOINTED CHIEF RISK OFFICER

Turin/Milan, 29 December 2025 – Intesa Sanpaolo announces two key leadership appointments at the top of the Group led by CEO Carlo Messina.
Effective from 1 January 2026, Francesca Nieddu will assume responsibility for the Chief Compliance Officer Governance Area, while Mauro Senati will take over leadership of the Chief Risk Officer Governance Area.
The appointments, approved by the Board of Directors, confirm Intesa Sanpaolo’s ability to recognise and promote its top managerial talent, with a focus on internal resources and generational renewal.
Davide Alfonsi, outgoing Chief Risk Officer, and Piero Boccassino, outgoing Chief Compliance Officer, will continue to contribute their expertise as Senior Advisors, reporting directly to CEO Carlo Messina.

Francesca Nieddu
Chief Compliance Officer as of 1 January 2026.
Graduated with honours in Political Economy from Bocconi University in 1995, she earned a Master’s degree in “Decision Theory and Risk Modelling” from ENS Cachan in Paris in 1997, followed by a PhD in “Decision Theory and Financial Mathematics” from the University of Trieste in 1999. She began her professional career in 1998 at Borsa Italiana in the equity derivatives market, and from 2000 held roles in the capital markets area at Unicredito Italiano, with responsibilities in marketing and product management for retail investor financial products. In 2004, she led personal banking and investment product management at Banca di Roma (Capitalia Group), and in 2005 she joined Banca IMI, moving in 2007 to Intesa Sanpaolo’s Banca dei Territori Division, where she held roles of increasing responsibility. There, she led integration projects, headed CRM functions and digital transformation initiatives. Since 2018, she has held commercial responsibilities within the Banca dei Territori network. From 2021, she served as Regional Director for Veneto East and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
She has served on the boards of several Group subsidiaries and was a board member of EFMA – the global banking and insurance association – from 2015 to 2017.
Mauro Senati
Chief Risk Officer as of 1 January 2026.
Graduated with honours in Economics and Business from the University of Brescia in 1993, he later earned a Master’s degree in Economics from Bocconi University thanks to a scholarship.
He began his professional career at Banca Commerciale Italiana in 1994 and later joined Intesa Sanpaolo, gaining significant experience in Planning and Control, Risk Management and Internal Validation. In 2008, he moved to UBI Banca, where he led Risk Management and became Chief Risk Officer in 2010, overseeing second-level control functions (Risk Management, Compliance and AML).
Following UBI’s merger into Intesa Sanpaolo in 2020, he returned to the Group as Head of Risk Management for the Banca dei Territori Division and later became Head of the Coordination Area for Business Units, Market and Financial Risk Management within the Chief Risk Officer Governance Area.
He has also taught Risk Management as an adjunct professor at the University of Milan-Bicocca and, since 2018, has been President of AIFIRM (Italian Association of Financial Industry Risk Managers.
