Budapest, 24 March 2026 – Luigi Fuzio has been appointed CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of CIB Bank, succeeding Pál Simák, who after 12 years leading the bank takes on a new international role within the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, based at the Head Office in Milan. CIB Bank is part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group’s International Banks Division.
In his new role, Simák will lead the Next-Gen Acquisition Machine, a key strategic initiative of the Group’s 2026–2029 Business Plan across the 12 markets of the International Banks Division. The initiative focuses on developing a new international platform and service model for acquiring next-generation digital customers, supporting the Group’s strategy to expand into new business segments and strengthen synergies across its international network.
The new role reflects Simák’s leadership and track record at CIB Bank. Over the past 12 years, the bank has consistently delivered ahead of plan, strengthening its market position while maintaining sustained growth and stable cost efficiency. Total assets reached approximately €10 billion at the end of 2025.
Fuzio joins from Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Slovenia, where he has served as CEO for the past three years. He entered the Intesa Sanpaolo Group in 2021 as Head of Retail & Wealth Management for the International Banks Division, overseeing activities across its banks and gaining direct knowledge of key markets, including Hungary. He previously held senior leadership roles in major European banking and insurance groups.
CIB Bank has also appointed Balázs Szabó as Deputy CEO. He will continue to serve as a Member of the Management Board and Head of the Corporate Division.
