Redefining the Perception of Disability with the Poti Pictures Project

I am Daniele Bonarini, director and founder of the social film production company Poti Pictures.

The mission of Poti Pictures is simple yet ambitious: to use cinema to develop a new narrative around disability and redefine its perception. For nearly twenty years, our social film production company, created within the Il Cenacolo cooperative, has been offering people with intellectual and relational disabilities the opportunity to train and work in the world of cinema.

The First Film Hub for People with Disabilities Thanks to the Charity Fund

Thanks to Intesa Sanpaolo Charity Fund, we inaugurated the Studios in Arezzo, the first film hub in Italy entirely dedicated to training and experimentation for people with intellectual and relational disabilities. It’s not just a film set but a true creative laboratory where participants, supported by industry professionals, learn all the phases of audiovisual production. A space for experimentation that not only trains actors with disabilities but also prepares them for a future of active participation in society.

The idea of Poti Pictures Studios was born precisely to provide an authentic and welcoming space for people who often do not find suitable opportunities. With the Intesa Sanpaolo Charity Fund, we shared the same vision: not just to shape a dream, but to create a project capable of generating real social transformation. With concrete support and attentive listening, they helped us better structure our proposal, giving us the tools to realize a project that, until recently, seemed like a utopia.

Today, the Studios aspire to become a point of reference not only for the city of Arezzo but also for the professional film industry that seeks to embrace an inclusive approach. The inauguration of this space was not only a celebration for us but also a moment of strong impact for the community, which enthusiastically responded to our vision of disability.

It is essential to demonstrate how the project can truly make a difference, generating concrete and lasting impact over time.
