On court alongside
Jasmine Paolini
Intesa Sanpaolo is a supporter of Jasmine Paolini, the number 4 in the WTA world rankings. Together with Jannik Sinner, world number 1 in the ATP rankings, Jasmine represents Italian excellence in tennis and Intesa Sanpaolo is proud to stand alongside them both and contribute to their successes.
After her first WTA 1000 title in Dubai, the finals at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon (the first Italian to reach this milestone on grass in London), gold in the doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics and victory in the Billie Jean King Cup with the Italian national team, Jasmine has continued to write new pages of history in Italian sport in 2025. She was victorious in both the singles and doubles at the Italian Open (Masters 1000) and in the doubles at Roland-Garros.
2025 Italian Open: Jasmine Paolini - a history-maker
On the clay courts of Foro Italico, Jasmine Paolini became the first Italian to win the women’s singles title at the Italian Open (Masters 1000) for forty years, overcoming the American world number 3, Coco Gauff, in straight sets in the final (6-4, 6-2) and thus conquering her second WTA 1000 title. In addition, with her victory in Rome, Jasmine returned to her best-ever ranking of no. 4 in the world, the highest ever for an Italian female tennis player.
And Jasmine’s incredible performance continued in the doubles. After earning the right to defend her 2024 title, winning the rematch of the final in Paris, the Tuscan star was victorious, again with Sara Errani, 6-4, 7-5. No female tennis player had managed to win the singles and doubles at a WTA 1000 tournament since 2009. Once again alongside Sara Errani, Jasmine triumphed in the doubles at Roland-Garros 2025, beating the Serbian/Kazakh pair in the final (6-4, 2-6, 6-1), thus consolidating her status as the standard bearer of Italian tennis.
Jasmine’s 2025 season once again began on the other side of the world, with tournaments in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne, albeit without great success. Paolini’s form returned during subsequent tournaments in the Middle East. In Doha, together with Sara Errani, she won her third WTA title in the doubles, climbing into the top 10 in the doubles rankings, too.
Jasmine’s purple patch continued in March on the hard courts of Miami, where, after a thrilling series of results, she reached her first semi-final of the year in the singles, before finally falling to the world number 1, confirming her excellent form. After starting the clay season in the Stuttgart Open with a semi-final in the singles and quarter-final in the doubles, Jasmine failed to hit the same heights in Spain, at the Madrid Open.
Yet redemption did not take long and Jasmine was soon to rewrite history: on her ‘home’ clay at Foro Italico in Rome, Jasmine was victorious in the singles, ending an Italian drought which had lasted for forty years. And she was not done there. Jasmine and Sara would go on to claim the doubles title, too. A short time later, in the same arena where they took Olympic gold in Paris, Paolini and Errani won the doubles title at Roland-Garros, avenging their defeat in 2024 by defeating the Serbian/Kazakh pair 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
This victory saw Jasmine rise to 6th in the world doubles rankings.
In February 2024, she triumphed in Dubai, becoming the third Italian in history to win a WTA 1000 event. A few months later, on the famous clay of Roland Garros, she reached the final of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time, where the world number 1, Iga Swiatek, proved too strong. This performance was still enough to break into the top 10 of the WTA rankings, reaching 7th position.
In doubles too, Jasmine Paolini has continued to enjoy success, with five WTA titles so far in her career, three of which were secured in 2024 with her usual partner Sara Errani: first in Linz (WTA 500), then at the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome (WTA 1000) and finally in Beijing at the China Open (WTA 1000).
With this latest triumph, after competing for an hour and twenty nine minutes and with a clear 6-4 6-4 win, the reigning Olympic champions are celebrating, in the best possible way, their pass onto the Finals in Riyad, already mathematically obtained thanks to qualifying for the last part of the Chinese tournament.
The Paris clay has also been a highlight of the Italian couple’s season. First the defeat at Roland Garros, although it was in Jasmine’s first final in a Grand Slam doubles tournament, then, in August, the award of an historic gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
The highlight of Jasmine's career to date has been Wimbledon 2024, where she became the first Italian tennis player in history to reach the final. At the 2024 WTA Finals in Riyadh, the Italian tennis player was ranked number 4 in the world: a historic result for Italian tennis, equalling that obtained by Francesca Schiavone in 2011, achieved at the peak of a season that began with the 28-year-old from Tuscany ranking 30 in the WTA world ranking.
In November 2024, Jasmine Paolini headed Italy to win the Billie Jean King Cup, the most prestigious team tournament in women's tennis. In the final played in Malaga, Paolini thrashed Rebecca Sramkova 6-2, 6-1, securing Italy's fifth title in the tournament. Her determination and talent inspired the entire team, bringing Italy back on the women's tennis world stage after more than a decade.
Jasmine’s dream 2024 was also recognised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) who awarded her, alongside her doubles partner, Sara Errani, the title of World Champions in the women’s doubles category.
The first ever Olympic tennis gold for Italy at the Paris 2024 Games, two WTA 1000 titles, a WTA 500 trophy, victory in the final at Roland-Garros (the first doubles Slam victory for Jasmine) and the historic Italian triumph in the Billie Jean King Cup were the key elements in securing this prestigious award.
In 2023, Jasmine broke into the top 30 of the WTA rankings for the first time, thanks to the two finals she reached in the WTA 250 in Palermo and Monastir (Tunisia), where she and Sara Errani were victorious in the doubles tournament.
In addition to her individual successes, she also represented Italy in the Billie Jean King Cup, where she and her teammates reached a historic final, the first in 10 years, before finally being defeated by Canada.
Jasmine Paolini: background and story
Born on 4 January 1996 in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Tuscany, Jasmine was introduced to tennis by her father and uncle at the age of five, growing up on the Tuscan clay courts, until she turned professional in 2011, the year in which she debuted on the ITF circuit.
In 2013 she competed in her first Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the third round at the US Open. Since then, thanks to her passion and dedication, she has begun to climb the world rankings and is considered one of the most promising athletes in our country.
Jasmine is known for her aggressive playing style and solid technique. Her two-handed backhand is powerful and precise, and her service has improved considerably in recent years, with her excellent court coverage, speed and agility allowing her to make shots that would otherwise be out of reach.
Her determination and work ethic are exemplary, and this is reflected in the results achieved on the field and the steady growth in her game. Skilled at handling pressure situations and able to adapt to different surfaces, she is a successful competitor on both clay and grass.
