Intesa Sanpaolo at miart 2026 with Ryman and Schifano exhibition
16 April 2026
At miart 2026, the international modern and contemporary art fair, Intesa Sanpaolo presents an exhibition project dedicated to Robert Ryman and Mario Schifano. The initiative unfolds between the fair and the Gallerie d’Italia museum, showcasing works from the Group’s collections and reinforcing the bank’s role in supporting culture and the art market.
The project aligns with the theme of miart 2026, inspired by the jazz of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. It connects the artistic research of Ryman and Schifano with musical language, highlighting the balance between rigour and improvisation that defines both artists, despite their different artistic backgrounds.
An exhibition project between the fair and Gallerie d’Italia
The project “Ryman / Schifano, Standard / Variations. 1960–1970: controlled improvisations from modal to monochrome”, curated by Nicola Ricciardi, begins in the Intesa Sanpaolo lounge at miart with two works from the Luigi and Peppino Agrati Collection, now part of the Group’s collections.
The exhibition continues at the Gallerie d’Italia - Milan, where additional works by the two artists are displayed, including Robert Ryman’s monumental Surface Veil IV. During miart, the vault is exceptionally open to the public by reservation, offering access to a selection of works from the 20th and 21st centuries.
