Donation to Civil Protection: €80 million for urgent COVID actions
Intesa Sanpaolo’s €100 million donation to the Civil Protection Department is already providing tangible support to many healthcare facilities in Italy as they face the Coronavirus emergency.
Intesa Sanpaolo has urgently allocated €80 million in donation to the National Healthcare System to counter the Coronavirus emergency.
The interventions are part of Intesa Sanpaolo’s € 100 million donation to the Civil Protection Department to strengthen the National Healthcare System as it faces today’s crisis and to prepare for future emergencies.
Among the interventions carried out are new intensive care beds, a laboratory for diagnostics and screening, and a field operating room.

To date, €53.5 million has been allocated to the purchase of medical equipment for patient care (ventilators, helmets, respirators) and personal protection equipment for doctors, nurses and hospital staff (masks, gloves and overalls).
A further €26.5 million was allocated to various health facilities throughout Italy, based on the severity of the COVID-19 emergency in those regions. Of the €26.6 million, 52% was destined for the North, 23% for Central Italy and 25% for the South.
The health facilities identified by the Civil Protection are: San Raffaele Hospital (Milan); Humanitas hospitals in Rozzano (Milan), Bergamo and Castellanza (Varese); Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda (Milan); ULSS 9 Scaligera (Verona); Istituto di Candiolo IRCCS (Turin); Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome; and the Dei Colli Hospital (Naples).

In addition to the donation of €100 million, the agreement with the Civil Protection Department provides that Intesa Sanpaolo will make its online crowdfunding platform ForFunding available to the government entity. Donations - which have already reached €1.5 million - may be made by individuals and businesses wishing to contribute to overcoming the COVID-19 health emergency in Italy.
