Intesa Sanpaolo is engaged in the most impressive anti-poverty programme to be by a private entity: it has earmarked resources of €1.5 billion by 2027 to reduce inequality throughout Italy.
In this context, in 2024 sought to support people in difficulty in the following areas:
- Food poverty: more than 9.8 million meals were distributed, in cooperation with the Banco Alimentare Foundation throughout Italy and also with San Patrignano Foundation, Dynamo Camp, Messina Community Foundation, ACLI, VIDAS Association, Semi di Vita Cooperative, Cometa Foundation and City Angels.
- Hospitality: around 600,000 beds were made available, thanks to various collaborations including San Patrignano Foundation, Dynamo Camp, Messina Community Foundation, City Angels, VIDAS Association, D.i.Re Association - Women in the Network against Violence and Casa Betel.
- Health: approximately 115,000 medicines distributed, in cooperation with the Banco Farmaceutico Foundation. Three new Solidarity Outpatient Clinics of the Dioceses of Caritas Italiana in Campania, Apulia and Molise will also be opened.
Moreover, thanks to the dialogue with the Intesa Sanpaolo Group's corporate clients, it was possible to distribute around 94,000 items of clothing in 2024, in partnership with Caritas Italiana and some corporate clients, by recovering and distributing surplus production.
Intesa Sanpaolo's interventions stand out for their ability to identify need, multi-annual planning, the capillarity of interventions and the multitude of players involved.
For the fight against poverty, Intesa Sanpaolo has created a dedicated Governance Area, under the responsibility of Paolo Bonassi and included in the Sustainability Area headed by Paola Angeletti.
