Biennale Cinema 2024: Intesa Sanpaolo supports Italian cinema in Venice too
Intesa Sanpaolo supported a number of productions at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. In detail:
- the competing films 'Diva futura' and 'Campo di battaglia'
- the non-competing drama 'L’orto americano’
- the special screening of 'Leopardi’
- two works in the Horizons section 'Nonostante' and 'Familia'.
With 835 film and audiovisual productions already financed for over €2.8 billion, Intesa Sanpaolo leads support of the Italian audiovisual market. It has also recently renewed its commitment to the sector by making available an additional €5 billion.
More specifically, in line with the NRRP's Culture 4.0 objective, Intesa Sanpaolo aims to:
- encourage consolidation of the Italian audiovisual industry at an international level
- enhance cultural projects promoting social and inclusive topics
- support the economic development of direct and indirect supply chains related to the sector, which can benefit from cinema as a vector of Italy's image abroad.
Indeed, the Italian film industry represents a major economic resource for the country and Intesa Sanpaolo has intervened both with direct financing and with VAT credit and Tax Credit liquidation.
Support for international film productions in Italy
Intesa Sanpaolo encourages foreign executive productions to be developed in Italy, thanks to consolidated relations with leading international operators (majors, independent studios, OTTs): the aim is to generate positive spill-over effects on the territory in terms of employment and social relations, fuelling professional growth in the sector.
The foreign executive productions assisted by the Group in recent years include: "Ferrari" directed by Michael Mann and the TV series "Those About To Die" directed by Roland Emmerich, as well as Fast and Furious 10, Indiana Jones, Equalizer 3, Gossip Girl, 007 and White Lotus.
The Media & Culture Specialist Desk
Through its specialist Media & Culture Desk, Intesa Sanpaolo has financed the production of around 655 national and international films and TV series, as well as 180 commercials, factuals and TV formats.
The Desk provides specialist support both in the project structuring phase - with an advisory service on the various financial aspects - and for financial support in the implementation phase.
