5 February 2026
Following the flooding that affected Emilia-Romagna in May 2023, Intesa Sanpaolo has reaffirmed its commitment to local communities with a €4 million initiative aimed at supporting recovery and preventing hydrogeological risk.
The charitable contribution, implemented in collaboration with Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì and in coordination with local and regional institutions, supports the transition from the emergency phase to recovery by promoting high-impact social initiatives and long-term territorial safety projects.
Initiative highlights
- €2 million have been allocated to restoration measures and support for local communities
- €2 million will be dedicated to studies and design activities for flood risk mitigation, within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 5 February 2026 with the Emilia-Romagna Region
Supporting communities and local areas
An initial tranche of resources has been directed towards immediate actions benefiting affected communities, including support for families, restoration of cultural and religious assets, assistance to third-sector organisations and the rehabilitation of local infrastructure.
Additional resources will finance technical studies and planning activities aimed at improving hydraulic safety in river basins within the Province of Forlì-Cesena, including interventions involving the Montone, Ronco and Savio rivers and the Bevano, Rubicone and Pisciatello streams.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed on 5 February 2026 with the Emilia-Romagna Region provides for technical activities to be carried out by the Regional Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection.
“Since the events of May 2023, we have promptly mobilised all available resources to support citizens and businesses in Romagna, a territory to which the Group has longstanding and deep-rooted ties. The initiatives implemented, together with those envisaged under the protocol signed today, further demonstrate Intesa Sanpaolo’s attention to all components of our local communities, whose strong and cohesive economic and social fabric represents one of the country’s most valuable assets”
Paolo Grandi, Board Member, Intesa Sanpaolo
This initiative confirms Intesa Sanpaolo’s commitment to the territories in which it operates and highlights the importance of cooperation between public institutions and private stakeholders in promoting sustainable reconstruction and long-term prevention.
