New spaces designed to improve quality of care and patient experience define the refurbished paediatric dialysis unit at Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital in Rome.
The unit, the only exclusively paediatric dialysis centre in the Lazio region, has been redeveloped with the support of Intesa Sanpaolo as part of the Group’s broader healthcare and social impact initiatives.
Clinical innovation and patient-centred design
The refurbishment introduced modern treatment areas, haemodialysis stations and a controlled-pressure isolation room to safely manage patients with specific clinical needs. Advanced technologies enable continuous monitoring and real-time digital management of clinical data.
The environment has been designed to support children undergoing long and frequent treatments, combining clinical efficiency with comfort and educational continuity through the hospital school programme.
Reference centre and Intesa Sanpaolo’s social impact role
The initiative reflects Intesa Sanpaolo’s strategy to generate lasting social value by supporting healthcare projects with tangible community impact.
“For Intesa Sanpaolo, creating lasting social value, especially in healthcare, is a responsible choice: leveraging Intesa Sanpaolo’s strength in service of the country helps improve people’s wellbeing and social cohesion”
Paolo Bonassi, Chief Social Impact Officer at Intesa Sanpaolo
The new unit represents a regional reference centre supporting patients from dialysis to kidney transplantation, where the hospital has achieved significant long-term outcomes.
Among others, the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, also attended the inauguration.
