Intesa Sanpaolo and the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Special Economic Zone of Sardinia have signed an agreement to facilitate the development of the territory and its economy, relaunching the island's role at the centre of the Mediterranean.

The agreement's main objectives include:

  • support for the sustainable investments of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the regional SEZ
  • reshoring activities
  • individual and supply chain business development programmes
  • training courses dedicated to the management of companies active in the area
  • initiatives with high economic and social impact that can attract investors

Intesa Sanpaolo is supporting the revitalisation of the maritime economy and has earmarked €5 billion to promote production facilities in the Special Economic Zones of Southern Italy, which are fundamental in the synergy between the port and logistics system and the manufacturing industry.

In addition, Intesa Sanpaolo will promote missions abroad to engage international investors, while also making available to entrepreneurs a specialised desk, Incent Now – a platform for accessing NRRP calls for proposals – and an ad hoc financing line for companies investing in SEZs and SLZs.

Intesa Sanpaolo has been actively involved in the promotion of Southern SEZs since 2017 and has signed cooperation agreements with the Port System Authorities of Puglia, Trieste and Venice , as well as with the Extraordinary Commissioners of the Calabria, Campania, Sicily and Abruzzo SEZs.
