Intesa Sanpaolo adheres to the 2025 European Week for Waste Reduction
For the fourteenth consecutive year, Intesa Sanpaolo is taking part in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), which will take place from 22 to 30 November.
With the slogan "Turn on the value, switch off the waste", the EWWR 2025 focuses on the issue of electrical and electronic equipment, not only to raise awareness to improve their collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of the materials included in these items at the end of their life, but also to rethink these products from the outset. To significantly reduce the impact of WEEE (i.e. Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) key actions should be taken before products reach the waste category, raising awareness among the different categories of stakeholders on product design activities so that they are more durable over time.
As always, the bank will contribute to the dissemination of this important message, publishing a communication in the "Sustainability" section of the Group website, relaunched through social channels and dedicated to all the people of the Group.
On 27 November, the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center organises an Innovation Coffee, entitled "From waste to resource: the WEEE challenge". The protagonists will be Debora Fino, Full Professor of Chemical Plants, Director of the Department of Applied Science and Technology, at the Polytechnic of Turin, Fabrizio Brutti - Team Manager of the Polytechnic of Turin WEEE Open (a working group of young people born spontaneously on issues of WEEE recovery for social purposes) and Tomaso Manca, Head of Marketing @ Hiro Robotics, an innovative start-up, winner of Intesa Sanpaolo's In Action ESG initiative, which has devised a process based on vision systems, recognition algorithms and robotic manipulators, to identify the various components of an electronic product, remove them precisely and recover intact materials and parts.
The meeting is dedicated to bringing concrete experiences on how technological, social and systemic innovation plays a fundamental role in rethinking supply chains in order to reduce waste and the impact of WEEE waste and how it is possible to develop innovative product strategies also with an eye to social issues.
Intesa Sanpaolo has always been committed to spreading the culture of sustainability and, through the Innovation Center, also to the culture of Innovation and to the promotion of circular economy solutions, of which it is the Group's center of expertise, also through support for start-ups with innovative ideas on these issues.
