Intesa Sanpaolo supports the Holy See Pavilion at the Venice Biennale
Intesa Sanpaolo is the main partner of the Holy See Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Art Biennale with the exhibition project "Con i miei occhi" ("With my eyes"). Involving eight internationally renowned artists, the exhibition brings art into a new and unprecedented context for the Biennale: the Giudecca women's detention centre; and actively involves the inmates in the visit.
The relationship of women prisoners with civil society is precisely one of the central themes of "Con i miei occhi", which aims to lead the visitor to a reversal of perspectives and a reflection on topics of equality, human rights and the protection of the weaker members of society.
"Social and art will find an intelligent synthesis in the project of the Holy See Pavilion at the 2024 Art Biennale, which Intesa Sanpaolo is honoured to support. Accompanying the realisation of the Pavilion, with its two souls, means, for us, to contribute properly and consistently to the dissemination of the good and the beautiful, both of which form the basis of our commitment”
Paolo Maria Vittorio Grandi, Chief Governance Officer Intesa Sanpaolo
Intesa Sanpaolo has signed an agreement with the Vatican's Dicastery for Culture and Education for a three-year collaboration. Also in the next two editions of the Biennale, Architecture in 2025 and Art in 2026, the Bank will be the main partner of the Holy See along the journey of high artistic and human value it is set to undertake.
Intesa Sanpaolo's support for the Holy See on the occasion of the Venice Biennale confirms the central role that the Bank attaches to projects aimed at the social, cultural and civil growth of the communities in which it operates.
Intesa Sanpaolo carries out the largest inequality reduction programme promoted by a private entity in Italy. As part of this impetus, desired and requested by Carlo Messina, support for the prison world is a cross-cutting activity involving several of the Bank's structures.
Active participation in the country's cultural life is expressed through the conservation and enhancement of the Group's artistic and architectural heritage, which numbers more than 35,000 works, from archaeology to contemporary art, accessible through a vast network of museums:
- The Gallerie d’Italia with locations in Milan, Naples, Turin and Vicenza
- The Gallery of Palazzo degli Alberti in Prato
- The Ivan Bruschi House Museum of Antiques in Arezzo
These activities and the others contained in the 2022-2025 Business Plan confirm Intesa Sanpaolo's significant ESG commitment, with a world-class position in social impact.
